Elephant Camp

Elephants are assigned to the young oozies (mahouts) when they are very young, so that both rider and animal can get to know each other and thus form a close bond. This is the reason for trying to have only one oozie taking care and handling one elephant throughout all its life. In the image, a young oozie with his elephant. At Forest Village, between 16 and 17 miles from Taungoo. Myanmar, February 2014.
